Every mobile app starts with an idea. If you have one and think that it’s worth developing into the next top app, here are three steps that will help you reach your goal.
Do your research first
Naturally, you want to start developing your idea straight away. But it’s best to hold your horses and do some proper research before you invest your time and money into working on something that’s either already there or does not have the potential to succeed. When you perform your research, you will most likely find several apps that do what you plan to do. That’s not the end of the world because you can analyze these apps and see how you can make yours better. Are there any features missing? What about usability? Is the GUI comfortable? You can use your competitors’ mistakes to your advantage.
Develop a wireframe
The next step is to add some flesh to your idea by creating a wireframe (also called storyboard). This is when you should try to imagine yourself as your future app’s user and make your app as intuitive as possible. Think of what would be the most natural next step after launching the app, how to make it easy to access its features and settings, and how to minimize the number of taps and swipes the user has to make to get things done.
You can find a wireframe example here.
Create a business plan
When you have the final version of your wireframe, you should start working on a business plan for your app’s development. And when that’s done, you can start getting the funding and actually developing your app. Alternatively, you can bring your idea to an app developing company and let them make your idea a reality.
