It won’t be an overstatement that everybody is waiting for the official release of iOS 7, Apple’s new and hugely redesigned mobile operating system. Even though what is supposed to be the final version of the OS leaked some days ago and the “golden master” build was made available for iOS developers, the actual public release is still ahead of us.
Last Tuesday, Apple announced that the general release of iOS 7 will happen on Wednesday, September 18. This means that it will happen two days before the launch of Apple’s new smartphones, iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c. Both these devices will be sold with iOS 7 preinstalled.
Current iPhone and iPad users will need to update their devices to run the new operating system. iOS 7 will be available as a free update for iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, and iPhone 4. In addition to that, it will be available for the fourth- and third-generation iPad, iPad 2, and iPad mini, as well as the fifth-generation iPod touch. The update will be completely free.
